Really Good Finds, August 2026
I’m starting a Really Good Finds series because one of my favorite parts of friendship is women passing along the good stuff!
First up: I just finished How To Read A Book by Monica Wood. Y’all I read it in two days. Granted I was sick with this damn virus that has held Tim and me in its grip the last week. But it’s one of those books where you quickly get connected to each of the characters. I thought I knew how it was going to end, but the ending surprised me ~ which I love.
And while we’re here? That blanket is by Minky Couture and we love them! They’re so snuggly and just a great throw. We have both the adult and travel sizes in different colors. But I only buy the “hugs” version. I’ve not tried any others.
In my 40s I wore a full beat of makeup every day. I’ve since shed the hair, nail and eyelash extensions. Today I’m more of a minimal makeup gal. I was on the hunt for a great lip gloss and decided to try Summer Fridays ~ yes I know every young woman in her 20s advertises this (which may be why I’m just now trying it). It’s wonderful. The color is just enough and it’s not sticky. LOVE.
In the last few years I’ve become very interested in astrology. I’m so new to it and there’s SO much to learn. But being an Aquarius married to a Leo, we joke we wish we’d had all this understanding from the get-go. Anyhoo, I’ve come to enjoy The Weekly Brew by Aliza Kelly’s weekly horoscope. She’s a fun vibe and shares a ton of great info.
One of my go-to breakfasts to have on hand is 1 Bowl Baked Oatmeal by Sally Bakes Blog. I love how versatile it is. I can adjust the sweetness, the fruit, the toppings. I’ve made a little crisp for the top. I’ve added nuts. So many ways to personalize this each time you make it.
That’s my 5 for August. Okay, your turn. What have you found lately that’s really, really good?
